Is it spring yet? by Nafisah, 5th grade

I see the flowers blooming brightly

I hear the birds singing loud and clear

I feel very hot when I'm outside

I smell the sweating children wherever I go

I taste delicious flavors of ice cream

So is it spring?

I do think so because of all the things that happen when I go outside.

Tickets to ride the Fredericksburg Carriage cost $12.00. Rayne only has $10.00. How much more did he need to buy the ticket?

A Day in the Forest by Lizzy, 6th grade

One time I was walking in the forest—just me and my friends. Then all of a sudden, a DANCING BEAR jumped out! We were all shocked at first, but then he did the disco, the Harlem Shake, and the bunny hop! We all starting laughing and couldn't seem to stop. It was the best forest walk ever.

Pea Pod Surprise by Julie, 5th grade

One day I was shelling peas and out of a pod popped a wizard dressed up as a fairy. He said, "Hello, I'm a wizard."

"You're a wizard? I thought you were a magical fairy," I said.

"Yeah, I lost my uniform yesterday," said the wizard.

"That explains why you have a fairy costume," I said.

"Anyways, you have one wish. Spend it wisely," said the wizard.

My stomach was growing and I whispered to myself, "Man, I wish I wasn't so hungry."

The wizard said, "Bam!"

I got a ten-foot tall sandwich with all my favorite foods, even peas and chips! Now I don't have to cook for a few years, but I will shell more

My Morning by Maya, 6th grade

When I woke up, the sun was streaming onto my bed, the birds were singing my favorite song, and it smelled like someone was making bacon and pancakes. "GRANDMA'S HERE!" I put on my froggy slippers, and ran down the stairs, barely making it down in one piece.

"Grandma!" I rushed over to her while she was flipping pancakes, and gave her a huge hug.

Grandma said, "Why don't you sit down and get comfortablewhile I grab the powdered sugar and maple syrup!"

I nodded, and sat down on the island chair. "Grandma, why are you here today?" I asked her.

"My little sweet pea! I was flying back from Florida, and there was a layover in Dallas. There was too much snow, so I am leaving on Tuesday!" She smiled  wide, and I did the same. "You're silly goose parents wanted to surprise you, so they said to take a train out here, and have a stay!"

"Well, we are going to have a lot of fun in these three days together!" I smiled. We ate our pancakes and bacon, drank our orange juice, and went to play in the snow. "What an amazing morning!" I thought to myself.

Bike Safety by Rayne, 2nd grade

Some simple bike safety rules to keep safe on the two wheels:

Don't play around with the bike just use it as a type of transportation.

Use a helmet and knee pads, elbow pads, wear tennis shoes.

Ride on the right side.

Oil the chain, check the brakes-make sure they are not sticking. Check the tires to make sure they have the right air pressure. Check the seat, handle bars and wheels that they are all tight.

No loose garments and be careful of loose articles.

Obey all traffic signs.

Always keep your eyes on the road and have an ear out for all noises.

Know the hand signals.

Use the sidewalk or bike path or ride in a park.

Always take water to drink and take breaks.

Also, I like riding my new bike that my grandparents gave me. They always stress the rules. Riding is also a good way to EXERCISE.

Animals by Nova, 6th grade

There are many types of animals in the world but today I'm going to tell you about polar bears. Polar bears are larger than most bears and their bite is very powerful. A polar bear can bite through a skull or backbone with ease. Most animals that live in the Arctic have fur that turns white in the winter but the polar bear's fur stays white all year round. The polar bear has soft bristles that grow between the bear's toes to stop them from slipping on the ice, from having their paws stick to the ice, to help them sneak up on their prey without being heard and also to help them swim faster.

The Warriors by Chu-Yen and Alex, 5th grade

One day, there was a boy named Alex and his best fried Chu-Yen. They lived in the kingdom and they had to train because they were going to be knights. They would train the whole day and sometimes in the morning and at night. One day when they were training, they saw a dragon named Themos. Alex and Chu-Yen did not know what to do. Alex yelled out, "Be gone Themos!" But he didn't move. He almost gave the boys a heart attack. Then Alex and Chu-Yen got their swords out and went after the dragon. The dragon blew fire at them and Chu-Yen got burned. Alex got so mad that his eyes turned red. He went after the dragon and chopped off its head. His armor was golden and when he stood up, Ch-Yen had silver armor. He had a mark from the burn but he was ok. Alex was a hero and Chu-Yen was too. They were knights now and they both lived a happy life. Alex got married and so did Chu-Yen. Alex kept the dragon's head in his room.

I Care by Emileigh , 7th grade

A way that I care for the planet is by recycling, cleaning up the community, reusing, and planting foods. Recycling isn't the only thing you can do to help the planet. Picking up sticks and trash in the ditch is helping too. But not littering is a big way to help the planet. This is how I care for the planet.

What should I write? by Alyssa, 5th grade

I'm thinking and I'm wondering what should I write? Should I write about an Eskimo who wants to take a flight? Should I write about a bear who lives in a zoo? Should I write about an elephant or should I write about you? All the things I could write, all the things I could do. What should I write? If only I knew!

Spinach Power by Landen, 3rd grade

I think you should eat spinach because it is healthy for you. It makes you strong. I eat spinach every night in my salad. If you think about it and eat it, you might just love it. If you try it you might get very strong.

Fastest Ever by Brett, 3rd grade

There is a fast animal called a cheetah. I think it is the fastest animal. The cheetah is the world's fastest land mammal. A cheetah can go from zero to 60 mph in three seconds. Most wild cheetahs are found in eastern and south western Africa. Perhaps only 7,000 to 10,000 of these big cats remain and those are under pressure as the wide open grasslands are disappearing because of people.

Fastest Ever by Hannah, 3rd grade

Cheetahs are really fast. I think cheetas are really cute. Cheetahs can live up to 12 years. Cheetahs only need to drink once every three to four days. Female cheetahs give birth to about three cubs.

Invention Lab by James, 3rd grade

Okay, people face problems. Also, there is an even worse problem happening right now. There is no snow, just sun all year. So this up coming year, it will all change. Why? Because I'll make an invention called The Snow 3000! It will bring snow whenever you want. Only in one neighborhood will the snow cover the ground and fall from the sky. There you have it—snow on demand!

On a chilly day by Ashton, 4th grade

On a chilly day I was sipping some hot cocoa. Then it started to snow. When I was done with my cocoa, the snow was so, so high. I could not even get out of my front door so I started to dig and dig and dig. Finally I got out and I saw Jack Frost freezing my house. So I told him to stop and never return.
