Pocahontas Google Image Search This is the link to Google Images, the finest quick-and-easy way to find images on the World Wide Web. Whether you’re looking for images of leprechauns, Pocahontas, Jamestown, Hermit Crabs, or anything else, Google Images is a terrific fruitful place to search. History of Pocahontas Jamestown Rediscovery has an excellent teacher resource site on Pocahontas and Jamestown Colony. I’d use it by noting the hyperlinked words [the words in blue] to create an outline then take some quick notes on what I learn to share with students. The site is packed with lots of primary source [meaning authentic] images of things like the seal of the Virginia Company with a picture of the king on it. Unfortunately the images don’t enlarge so I can’t print them out by themselves. History Essays Pocahontas is truly a fascinating historical person, about the most famous women from colonial American history. Her actual life, commercial life, mythic life, artistic life, etc. have intrigued a whole host of historians. And this site collects a host of interesting essays. Another View of the Pocahontas Story Chief Roy Crazy Horse of the Powhatan Renape Nation, an American Indian Nation located at the Rankokus Indian Reservation in Westampton Township, Burlington County, New Jersey has something to say about the Pocahontas story, especially the 1995 Disney film. I’m not saying “he’s right” or “he’s wrong” but in the interest of educating students as critical thinkers, there’s value in listening to both sides of a historical story. Pocahontas Coloring Pages If you don’t want to wade into the murky waters of history, but just want some pretty pictures to color, here’s the place to find them. These 10 line drawings, made available by KidsColoringPages.com, feature the characters from the 1995 Disney film. |
