Children who love to read will become better students and will build a better future.
We want to get kids to appreciate the joys of reading in order to achieve that outcome.
Talk to one of your family members about a book which they enjoyed as a child. Then interview them about the story:
- Who were the main characters?
- Did the book make them laugh?
- Was there sadness in the story?
- Why do they remember this particular book?
- Is the setting different to today? Explain.
- Did illustrations make a difference?
- When was it written?
- How did it end?
- Was this book fiction or non-fiction?
- Can you still get this book from the library?
- And if you can, get it from the library, read and then compare how you feel about the story.
