Here’s another paint story that has a huge potential.
Scientists at Purdue University have created a new cool white paint. Why is this a big deal?
Well, this is the whitest paint ever created—brighter even than snow.
It is cool because it is actually cooling. Most colors absorb heat. This very bright white paint actually reflects sunlight by as much as 98%. By reflecting and radiating away infrared heat, it could actually lower the heat of a building which, in turn would lower air conditioning costs and help in the fight against global warming.
It probably won’t be available for a couple of years, but maybe we can look to a future where our roofs are painted white and air conditioning bills are lower.
