The Tortoise and the Hare

Greek storyteller and renowned fabulist, Aesop, is credited with creating stories featuring animals or objects that use human characteristics to solve tricky problems. Centuries of youngsters have been instructed, entertained, and amused by the antics of Aesop’s characters. “The Tortoise and the Hare”—one of Aesop’s most famous tales—relates a race between two animals able to move at vastly different speeds. One is boastful and zips along the track, while the other is humble, but persistent. Matching a speedy hare and a slow-moving tortoise in a footrace should have an obvious result. But Aesop has a different lesson to guide young readers who can easily relate to the simple message of the story. Your child will be the real winner with this life lesson learned!
