The deciduous forest is truly a forest for all seasons sharply contrasting changes throughout the year. From spring buds to summer berries to autumn colors to winter starkness, nature paints with a palette of colors to mark the passing of time. Students will learn where deciduous forests are found, why they are important, and what they produce. Creating a classified ad for a deciduous forest looking for a home is a challenging way to practice writing skills. Additional activities strengthen spelling and syllabication all in the context of environmental science fun.
