You can tell it’s time to vote! Campaign posters and signs appear to be everywhere, television and radio commercials include candidates running for office, and grown ups will be discussing who to support … or not support! Aside from personal political views, we can all agree on the importance of casting your vote in local, state, and national elections. This issue invites you to form your own campaign that reminds people to vote! Why is voting so important? Voting is a privilege and right in our democracy that citizens of other countries many not have. Electing our representatives means participating fully as an American citizen. Now’s the time to grab your banner, flag, or buttons and remind people to vote, vote, vote!

- understand and evaluate criteria for voting in the U.S.
- learn how to start a campaign to urge people to vote
- unscramble voting terms to practice spelling specialty vocabulary
- make a list of red, white, and blue words
- differentiate between fact and opinion in the news
- write an opinion piece on an option to allow kids to vote
- use the newspaper to locate campaign words for an ABC activity
- valuate what characteristics and qualities are found in a good leader
