In “Amazing Adventure” students will read about Matthew Henson – an African-American who accompanied Admiral Robert E. Peary in his daring journey to reach the North Pole in 1909. Although Peary was credited with the discovery, students will learn it was Henson who first stepped foot on the farthest point north on our globe. Students will plot their journey on a grid and discover other facts about this brave man and his life of danger.
