What makes a Mexican jumping bean jump? Who invented piñatas? Why does the Mexican flag depict a bird eating a snake? Travel to sunny Mexico to find the answers! This neighboring country to the south shares a long tradition of culture and history with the United States, and enriches the American experience with song, food, holidays and games. Mexico is a land of contrasts—from warm beaches to snow-covered volcanoes, tropical rainforests to dry deserts, and ancient ruins to modern cities. Young explorers will learn about “alebrijes”—creatures with different body parts—then use the newspaper to create one of their own. Puzzles, games and activities teach skills while explaining the culture of colorful magical Mexico.
