Giving back to your community can—and should—include people of all ages! Meet six-year-old Andy of Castro Valley, California, who raised a staggering amount of money to help save the Oakland Zoo during troubling financial times. Her idea of sending a simple hand-made beaded bracelets for donations of $25.00 or more caught fire, and within a short time thousands of generous citizens responded. If one six-year-old can have such a positive impact, imagine what more could do! Learning about philanthropy, civic responsibility, and civic pride in younger years is sure to carry over to teen and adult life. There is no better day than today to pick a cause and think about a plan to help. Read Andy’s story for inspiration and start a conversation!
