Strong character enhances the ability to fulfill civic responsibilities and helps to sustain a strong nation. No acts of courage have been more recently apparent than the response of our nation following the September 11, 2001 attacks. This issue recognizes the tenth anniversary of this memorable event and highlights how young readers can become involved in their own communities through volunteer work and civic pride.
