The fifty United States had a very different beginning many years ago. In fact, there weren’t any states way back then—only colonies and brave men—and women—who shared a vision to create a country with a new and different form of government that had never been tried before. These men, known as our “founding fathers,” wrote their ideas for a government into a document called the Constitution. This document “constituted”—or established—a new way of doing business that included three branches of government to make sure laws were fair and leaders were selected by the people. Today, September 17th is known “Constitution Day.” Grab your pencil and join us in celebrating one of America’s important events—the day the Constitution was signed!
