Once every four years citizens of the United States participate in a process to elect their next president. The first Tuesday in March has been nicknamed “Super Tuesday” as the day when 14 states—and one territory—vote for a primary candidate. When you’re 18 years old, you’ll be able to participate as a voter, too! This celebration of democracy recognizes that people have a voice in choosing their leaders, and reminds us that not all countries have such this privilege. March launches exciting months to come when candidates from different parties will canvas the states to speak directly to the American voters. This political barnstorming culminates in a general election to be held in November. Until then, the news will be dominated by speeches, rallies, and events. Stay tuned! Super Tuesday is just the beginning of the presidential election process!
