If crocodiles could talk, they’d tell you the difference between a swamp and wetlands – and why they prefer swamps where water provides them with a cool, wet home all year round. If they lived in a wetland, they would have to pack their crocodile bags and find another place to live when the water went away. Swamps and wetlands provide fresh or saltwater habitats for a variety of plants and animals, serve as nature’s sponge to prevent runoff and flooding and even give humans a place to go for recreation and rest. Learn more about swamps, wetlands and the creatures who live there in this issues for young explorers.
