Debating skills, like the ability to read and write well, can be taught and practiced following a process. Learning to present an opinion with valid reasoning and persuasive logic is something students will take throughout school and into the home and workplace. Kid Scoop teaches a simple three-step protocol of “Ask, Think, Decide” while debating the issue of skateboards on sidewalks. Once known as “sidewalk surfing,” skateboarding has become so popular it’s even part of the summer Olympics! There are justifiable reasons on both sides of the skateboard-on-sidewalk debate, and your scholar will use the protocol to form an opinion pro or con. Skateboarding facts are included to interest your young athlete in safety and the history of this unique form of transportation, sport, and entertainment.
