One national holiday not as well-known as the 4th of July or Thanksgiving falls on the 13th of September and honors an American named Uncle Sam. Some people may believe Uncle Sam was a fictional character, but he was an American through and through who lived during the time of the American Revolution. Too young to fight, Sam Wilson found other ways to serve his country. This issue retells the events that made Uncle Same an iconic symbol of American patriotism. His stories spread far and wide and soon Uncle Sam was depicted wearing the Stars and Stripes. A legend was born and lives on to this day!
