Every day is Mother’s Day—and why not? Mothers come in all shapes, sizes, species and relationships to those they care about most. Aunts, grandmothers and foster moms may also serve as caregivers. But mothering is not limited to humans. The animal kingdom provides an endless variety of interesting approaches to birthing and raising young as well. This issue introduces students to the strange, wonderful, and sometimes wild and crazy ways that animals raise their offspring.
