This may look like an alien creature but it is in fact a newly discovered kind of octopus. Stephanie Bush, one of the scientists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute found this creature while collecting squids and octopuses for the aquarium’s tanks.
At the moment this doesn’t have a scientific name and instead is nicknamed the “flapjack octopus.”
It is found on the sea floor and can move around by puffing up its body like a parachute. Big eyes and tiny cat-like ears make it look appealingly cute.
