Blokhus, Denmark is now the site of the World’s Tallest Sandcastle.
This amazing sculpture stands 69.4 feet (21.16m) high and is now a Guinness World Record holder beating the previous German sandcastle record by 11.4 ft (3.5 meters).
It took 4860 tons of sand to build and 30 of the world’s most talented sand sculptors under the direction of Wilfrid Stijger, a Dutch sandcastle master. It depicts the effect the coronavirus has had on the world, and it is topped by an image of the virus.
It was built on a wooden structure with both clay and glue mixed into the sand to try to keep it stable and it is hoped that it will stand until the winter frost arrives.
