This walking ball of wool is actually a sheep now named Baarack. He was spotted wandering in a forest and was rescued by Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary north of Melbourne, Australia.
After a much-needed shearing and care of the health issues he suffered, he is doing well. The sheared wool fleece weighed in at 66 lbs (30 kg). There was so much wool around his face that he wasn’t able to see properly. When sheared he was also found to be underweight.
Merino sheep, like Baarack, do not shed their fleece and to maintain their health need to be shorn roughly every year.
The Guardian Australia estimated that the amount of wool in the fleece would have made 61.3 woolen sweaters.
The good news is that Baarack is now doing well living on a farm with other sheep.
