Sizzling Synonyms

Find five pairs of words in the newspaper that are synonyms—words that mean the same (or nearly the same) thing. In writing, to avoid repeating a word you’ve already used, you can use a synonym. So if you’ve already used the word funny, you could say hilarious, humorous or laughable.

Take those five words and now find antonyms—words that mean the opposite. So the opposite of fast would be slow.

To be a good writer, you need to expand your vocabulary. Knowing synonyms and antonyms increases your knowledge.
